Cancer Specialists in Varanasi: Hospital Contacts and Visit Checklist

Looking for a cancer specialist in Varanasi or a cancer doctor near your town? Start with the specialty you need and the correct hospital campus—not a “best doctor” label. This guide gives official enquiry routes and a practical checklist for families planning a visit.

वाराणसी में कैंसर डॉक्टर ढूँढ रहे हैं? अस्पताल से पहले सही विभाग, डॉक्टर की उपलब्धता, फीस और किस परिसर में जाना है, यह पूछ लें।

Varanasi: two cancer-hospital campuses to distinguish

The official HBCH & MPMMCC website lists two Varanasi locations:

  • Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre (MPMMCC): Sundar Bagiya, near Nariya Gate, BHU Campus, Varanasi 221005.
  • Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital (HBCH): Old Loco Colony, Shivpurwa, Varanasi 221002.

Use the official contact page or call 0542-6917700 to confirm registration and the campus for your appointment. Do not assume that an appointment at one campus can be attended at the other.

The official clinical-services list includes medical, surgical and radiation oncology, paediatric oncology and palliative medicine. This describes listed services, not today’s appointment availability or a guarantee that every service is delivered at both sites.

Affiliated option: ZenHeal Cancer Hospital, Varanasi

For a treatment or written-estimate enquiry, see the official ZenHeal Varanasi hospital page or call the central team on 99307 09000. The hospital is in Dafi, Varanasi. Confirm the department, appointment availability and any consultation or treatment charges before travelling.

Affiliation disclosure: ZenHeal/ZenOnco is affiliated with Love Heals Cancer. Hospital consultations and treatment are clinical services, separate from LHC NGO guidance. Treatment may involve charges; ask for an estimate and any applicable assistance assessment. This listing is not a promise of free treatment, funding or a booking.

Which cancer specialist should you ask for?

  • Medical oncologist: cancer medicines and coordination of drug treatment.
  • Surgical oncologist: cancer operations and surgical assessment.
  • Radiation oncologist: planning and delivery of radiotherapy.

These are different roles, not interchangeable titles. Ask the hospital which department fits the diagnosis or referral letter; a general doctor or supportive-care practitioner is not automatically an oncologist. See the National Cancer Institute definitions of medical oncology, surgical oncology and radiation oncology.

Coming from Chandauli, Jaunpur or Ghazipur?

These districts are part of Varanasi division. Families considering Varanasi for specialist care can use this guide as a regional option; it does not establish an LHC clinic or an oncology service in their own town.

  1. Read the hospital name and campus from the appointment confirmation before arranging transport.
  2. Ask whether registration, consultation and any requested report review can happen on the same visit. Do not assume same-day testing.
  3. Ask the treating team whether a referral letter or advance pathology review is needed.
  4. If repeated visits are expected, ask about the likely visit pattern before deciding on daily travel or temporary accommodation.

No journey time is promised here: route, traffic, transport and the patient’s condition vary. Ask the treating team whether travel is appropriate.

Before your appointment

Keep a folder with available biopsy/pathology reports, scan reports and images, previous prescriptions, treatment summaries and your current medicine list. Ask the hospital whether original slides or blocks are needed before collecting or transporting them. Bring the referral letter, appointment details and identification requested by registration. Keep copies with you rather than sharing medical records in public comments.

Write down three questions: “Which specialty is handling my care?”, “What is the next decision or test, and why?”, and “Who do we contact if we need help between visits?” For a fuller preparation guide, see our first cancer appointment checklist.

If cost or accommodation is a concern

Ask the hospital’s Medical Social Services team about assessment and available support; assistance is conditional. Use our separate Varanasi financial-help guide for enquiry routes and our national financial-support directory. Getting a consultation does not itself establish eligibility for funding.

Questions families often ask

Can I choose only by searching “Varanasi cancer doctor”?

Use search as a starting point. Confirm the doctor’s current department and hospital affiliation directly, and ask about experience with the relevant cancer. Clinic rosters can change.

Does this page book an appointment?

No. Contact the hospital using its official route. We do not display unverified doctor availability, consultation prices or appointment promises.

What Love Heals Cancer can help with

Contact Love Heals Cancer if you need help understanding these resources. You can contact the hospitals directly without sending us your details. Love Heals Cancer’s NGO guidance is distinct from consultations or treatment offered through affiliated ZenOnco/ZenHeal services. If you choose a clinical service, ask who will provide it, where, and what fees apply before booking. A support enquiry is not a paid booking, funding approval or treatment recommendation. The independent hospitals listed here are not presented as LHC branches or partners.

Request a Cancer Counselor Callback

For patients and families across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar: for questions about reports, treatment options, costs or the Ayushman card, leave your name and phone number to request a callback from a patient counselor. काउंसलर से कॉलबैक का अनुरोध करने के लिए अपना नाम और फ़ोन नंबर छोड़ें।

Love Heals Cancer is a non-profit. We do not promise cures; treatment is decided by your oncologist. By submitting you agree to be contacted by phone/WhatsApp.
