About the speaker: Being a Pancreatic Cancer Caregiver to her mother, Anuja Raina surely knows the dos and don’ts of cancer and its treatment. Unfortunately, her mother got a late diagnosis with Stage 2 Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 54. In fact, it was initially very challenging for them to wrap around all the unexpected changes they were embarking upon. Anuja, while speaking to us, talked about how hard it was for them to identify cancer even after undergoing numerous tests for 2-3 months due to a lack of awareness about the testing criteria. And by the time they got to know, cancer had already spread and accelerated to an advanced stage. However, time, awareness and lack of progressive technologies in India brought her mother’s treatment to a standstill. And her mother took her last breath in 2011. As a proud daughter, Anuja still remembers her mother dealing with cancer very strongly till the end and not giving up on herself.
